Despite its title, an ice plant (Lampranthus spp.) provides heat to a backyard. Its lively, colourful blossoms atop lush and dense foliage are what make this succulent a groundcover of selection in Sunset Climate Zones 14 to 26. It also fares well trailing down the sides. Salt- an ice plant is appropriate for coastal locations. Also to top everything off, it needs care to prosper. But it will benefit from a tiny little bit of pruning to improve development that is green.
Prune an ice plant. It usually blooms from late winter until summer or spring, with respect to the cultivar.
Clip back the plant using a pair of pruning shears, reducing it into a height that removes the flowers that are spent. This stops the ice plant from seeds, that’s a method that uses up power and encourages fuller development.
Prune as required if it never dies back to keep an ice plant tidy. An ice plant can survive light frost; nevertheless, it dies back to the floor and if a generally chilly evening happens, clip away the foliage in early spring or late winter before new development.
