Layout Ideas With Mirror Strips

Mirror strips offer a more manageable and customizable alternative to big wall mirrors, enabling you to arrange them in decorative patterns and shapes on furniture and walls. Create designs like a city skyline, faux starburst mirror or a video-game inspired image produced from mirror strips. Flexible plastic-based models ensure safety when making decor for a child’s room.

Inspired by Music

Give a music-enthusiast’s bedroom wall the look of a graphical equalizer using mirror strips of different heights, then secured vertically to the wall. Add a few musical-note painted or mirrors musical notes near the screen to make the interpretation more obvious. For another look, utilize six mirror strips, each 1/2- to 1-inch thick, as faux strings on a decorated outsized guitar, or four for a bass silhouette on the wall. Paint the entire instrument or only its neck on the wall, which makes the neck wide enough to match all the mirror “strings” Use hot glue to secure lightweight flexible mirror strips or a mirror adhesive for thick glass strips.

City Skyline

Mirror strips of different widths and heights team up to make a skyline coming up from the ground or a baseboard along a wall, or along the side of a desk or broad piece of furniture. Utilize a triangular mirror atop some of these buildings for extra effect. Paint the wall to resemble a sunset behind the mirrors for an improved visual screen. For a different look, put on the mirror skyline on one wall with an exact duplicate in decorated shape form on the opposite wall.

Reflecting on Video Game History

Mirror strips are similar in shape to objects in some video games in the decades gone-by. Create a game-inspired wall by placing massive strips near both ends of a wall, each at a different height, with a square or curved mirror somewhere near the middle for a Pong-inspired wall. A series of mirror strips all of the exact same width but different lengths, stacked horizontally near the ceiling, becomes the drama field for a game of Breakout. Add a strip near the bottom as the game’s paddle, along with a round or square mirror partway around the wall as a ball.

Starbursts and Flowers

Make your own spin on the starburst or sunburst mirrors from a different age by placing a big round mirror high up on a wall with mirror strip beams emanating from it. Alternate strips of two lengths for a sun-ray result. Vinyl mirror strips enclosing a round plastic mirror or a decorated swirl 1/3 of how up a wall become a flower for a child’s bedroom. Add a stem with paint or with another narrow plastic mirror strip.
